Plug-in Fixed Fiber Optic Attenuator

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics is offering its plug-in fixed attenuators typically used in optical systems where the optical power from a source is too high for the equipment in use. These attenuators reduce the amplitude, or power, of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. The attenuators intended for use in telecommunication networks, optical fiber CATV networks, local area networks, optical sensors and optical fiber to household systems.

GAO Fiber Optics’ easy-to-install plug-in attenuators introduce an in-line fixed loss that will reduce the source power to an acceptable detection level. Each member of this attenuator family can be used to lower voltage, dissipate power and improve impedance matching. They feature high stability and precise attenuation and an attenuation level range from 0dB to 25dB at intervals of 0.5dB. The attenuators are optimized for doped fiber technology and are available with various different connector types and end face configurations. These modules work over a wavelength range of 1260nm to 1620nm at a maximum handling power of 1W.
