Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics, a leading supplier of fiber optic equipment, launched its upgraded, highly accurate plug-in fixed attenuators specially designed for use in telecommunication networks, optical fiber CATV networks, local area networks, optical sensors and optical fiber to household systems. These attenuators reduce the amplitude, or power, of a signal without appreciably distorting its waveform. They are especially useful for optical systems where the optical power from a source is too high for the equipment in use.
GAO Fiber Optics’ plug-in attenuators are optimized for doped fiber technology and are available with various different connector types and end face configurations. They introduce an in-line fixed loss that will reduce the source power to an acceptable detection level. The attenuators feature high stability and precise attenuation. Each member of this attenuator family can be used to lower voltage, dissipate power and improve impedance matching. These modules work over a wavelength range of 1260nm to 1620nm at a maximum power handling of 1W. The attenuation level ranges from 0dB to 25dB at intervals of 0.5dB.
