Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics is offering its fiber optic visual fault locator (VFL) – a 650nm visible laser source with an output power of 1mW for testing single mode (SM) or multi-mode (MM) fiber. It is an ideal tool for the examination of all kinds of fiber optic patch cords, ribbons or bunched pigtails in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks, telecommunications and CATV networks.

This portable fiber optic visual fault locator, model 3105, easily identifies splice points and micro-bends even through jacketed fiber and performs end-to-end fiber identification. It assists in mechanical fusion splice optimization and locates faults up to 5km along the fiber. The 650nm visible fault locator features a rugged design, a universal connector and precise measurements. The rugged fault locator is shipped with an FC or 2.5mm universal connector. Its energy-saving design allows it to work continuously for 30 hours on a single charge.
