Toronto, Canada – GAO Fiber Optics has released its portable optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) for use in CATV, ISP and telecommunication fiber networks. This portable OTDR displays the length, attenuation coefficient, connection point, fault point and loss distribution curves of the fiber, as well as, loss between two points, splice loss and return loss. This OTDR is widely used for loss analysis and fault locating in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of fiber optic networks and equipment.
This portable optical time domain reflectometer, model 3620, features a compact size and easy operation making it convenient for indoor or outdoor testing and its friendly operating interface makes it convenient for users to observe details of the curve under test, system settings and event information. This OTDR uses two markers for zooming in and out for curve details. It automatically locates and creates a list of fault points. This OTDR is able to offer up to six different test result comparisons at the same time while any single result is available to be observed. The test results and event analysis lists can be printed out through the print-screen-function and can be uploaded to a computer via the communication interface. It also has a rapid response time allowing it to finish 50km of fiber measurement in 30s with a high S/N ratio. A large battery capacity enables continuous operation for more than 12 hours. In addition, due to its robust design, it performs well even in harsh environments.
